Adil Aouchiche has been recalled from his loan spell by his parent club, Sunderland.
The 23-year-old Frenchman joined on loan last July and went on to start 16 league matches, scoring three goals during his time at Pittodrie.
Sunderland have now opted to recall the midfielder with a view to completing a permanent transfer abroad.
Commenting on his time at the Dons, Adil said: “I’d like to thank all the people working for this club, my teammates and of course all the fans. This club is huge and the fans deserve happy days. They are really important for the players and I wish Aberdeen all the best for the future.”
The former Paris Saint-Germain, Saint-Étienne and FC Lorient midfielder made his Aberdeen debut against Hearts at Tynecastle in August and opened his account for the Club in the 4-0 victory over Dundee in October.
He also netted a brace against the Dee at Dens Park in December, although his game time has been more limited in recent weeks.
Aberdeen FC Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel said: “While we are disappointed to see Adil depart, we respect the decision of his parent club to exercise their recall option.
“Adil has been a valued member of the squad during the first half of the campaign and we thank him for his efforts.”
Everyone at Aberdeen FC would like to wish Adil every success in his future career
