🏴 Friday’s Scottish football gossipKeane plotting a Celtic raid, Rangers dig in over Chermiti, Celtic’s keeper hunt widens and a former Europa League finalist calls it a day.
🍀 Robbie Keane could bring Franko Kovacevic with him if he lands Celtic job. Keane is favourite for the Parkhead job and Kovacevic is thriving under him at Ferencvaros. Celtic tried to sign him in January for around two point six million and could return if Keane walks through the door. With Cvancara and Adamu struggling, the need for a proper finisher is obvious.
🔵 Graeme Souness says Rangers owners were ‘naive’ but are learning fast. Souness says the 49ers group underestimated what Rangers means to supporters. He believes they have now woken up, become invested and are engaging properly. Rohl’s revival has helped steady the ship after a chaotic start to the season.
🍀 Celtic and Club Brugge eye Socceroos captain Maty Ryan. Maty Ryan is on the shortlist at both clubs as they prepare for summer goalkeeper changes. His Levante contract expires soon and he is still playing at a high level. Celtic need a new No.1 and Ryan ticks a lot of boxes.
🍀 Martin O’Neill’s odds tumble as Celtic consider keeping him permanently. O’Neill is now twelve to one to stay on next season after dragging Celtic back into the title race. A double is still on and the board have not ruled out keeping him. A twist nobody expected a few months ago.
🚫 No Scottish referees selected for the World Cup again. FIFA named one hundred and seventy officials and none are Scottish. A decade without representation and another blow for the refereeing department. Willie Collum’s Euro 2016 appearance feels a long time ago.
🔵 Johnny Watson signs first pro deal with Dundee. The seventeen year old keeper has penned a three year contract and joins the development squad. A big step for a highly rated academy product.
🌍 Ian Cathro and Mark Milligan named among world’s top 23 managers to watch. Cathro has transformed Estoril into a top half Portuguese side. Milligan has Newcastle Jets flying in the A League.Both recognised globally as rising coaching talents.
🔴 Aberdeen set to secure Findlay Marshall on new long term deal. Marshall was told he could leave last summer, now he is seen as a future first teamer. Fourteen goals and four assists for Arbroath have changed everything. Stephen Robinson wants the contract done quickly.
